 VECAN -  Project: No-Idling Campaigns
No-Idling Campaigns

This is an ongoing or completed project of the VECAN

 What is it?

This is a campaign aimed at getting people to stop idling their cars which is harmful to their physical health , the environment, their cars, and their wallets.

How to get started

1.      Turn your engine off if you are stopped for more than ten seconds

2.      Reduce warm-up idling – start driving after 30 seconds, more than that is harmful to your engine

3.      Spread the word

Benefits

  • For your health- Children are very vulnerable to exhaust because they breathe faster than adults which can trigger asthma attacks and cause respiratory ailments
  • For your wallet-  idling a small, compact car for only 10 minutes each day wastes more than 30 gallons of gasoline per year. Also harmful to your spark plugs, cylinders, and exhaust system.
  • For our environment- an idling vehicle emits 20 times more pollution than one traveling at 32mph.
